Nurses is a dramatic series that recreates the universe of Latin American public hospitals through the point of view of female nurses. It´s a story of women in which María Clara, the main character, is responsible for driving the main plot: a love story full of ups and downs. A failed marriage, a divorce, raising her two children and falling in love again with a man younger than her.
Nurses' day-to-day life also offers an intimate and daily vision of a group of professionals who weave close relationships of affection between them and their patients, but also of intrigues and envies, in addition to the challenges they face to save the lives of their patients, and sometimes their own lives.
Each episode will be supported by a specific case that is resolved in the same episode, while the main plot advances linked to those particular stories. Nurses explores the difficulties and achievements of a guild of under recognized, highly sought after, but poorly paid professionals who try to overcome their own problems in order to offer their best despite their family and work conflicts, rivalries, love and heartbreak.

María Clara is the main character of the love story and central axis of the group of friends and colleagues with whom she lives all kinds of experiences: emotional relationships, intrigue and envy, small battles for patients and even investigations on corruption inside the hospital where she works. She married very young, couldn´t fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor and had two children with Román, her husband. Together they worked hard to climb in the job ladder, each from their own job. She is a nurse and he is an executive in the industrial world, a job that forced him to travel constantly, while María Clara oversaw their home as well as her work. This is one of the reasons why their marriage goes into a crisis and forces the couple to fight to recover their desire, their love and happiness of being together. They don´t succeed and finally Maria Clara finds love again in a man younger than her. She is committed and passionate about her job and the rights of her patients, to the point of being branded as "conflictive" by some and courageous and brave by others.
This resident doctor stars next to María Clara a story of love in which in addition to having feelings for each other, they are joined by the passion for service to others and the struggle for the “lost causes”. He is younger than María Clara and although this represents an obstacle in the relationship for her, Carlos is determined to prove otherwise. He is married to a successful woman whose success has become a pressuring situation for Carlos because everyone expects him to be better than her. However, very soon this ceases to matter to him and he realizes that his goal is to be the best with the sole purpose of helping his patients. If he had met Maria Clara before, surely today she would be his wife. In addition to becoming the man who will bring back to Maria Clara the certainty of a new opportunity to be happy, Carlos will be her ally to uncover the dirty financial management of the Hospital Director.
Román is Maria Clara's husband. He wasn´t planning to get married, but fell madly in love. However, he soon returned to his old habits with partying and with women. He has a macho view of marriage: as long as he fulfills his obligations as a father and husband, everything is fine. He can´t imagine living the rest of his life with someone other than his legitimate wife. That´s why, when circumstances force him to leave home, his life becomes chaotic, his pride as a wounded male leads him to act like a scumbag and does everything possible to destroy María Clara´s life.
Gloria is María Clara's rival. She secretly hates her because she was always in love with Román and in college, where they both met, they always competed for the first places. Gloria comes from a humble home; she has had to work from a young age to help her family and take care of her sick mother. She is ambitious, resentful and of questionable ethical boundaries. She does everything in her power to make sure María Clara's work in the Hospital is overshadowed and she doesn´t forgive her for marrying Roman.
Álvaro works as a nurse in the hospital, he´s María Clara's best friend. She is like his older sister. He is away from his family because they don´t accept the fact that he´s gay. But Álvaro doesn't really exist, and not even Maria Clara knows it. Behind his false name lies a doctor who decided to impersonate a nurse to avoid getting killed, after Mafia men sentenced him to death because a drug lord he performed surgery on, died on the table. Álvaro is sensitive, loyal and the best of friends.
This beautiful and sensual brunette is the joy of the hospital and another of María Clara's great friends. Solecito does whatever it takes to help this woman who has done so much for her. She welcomed her to the hospital when she arrived from her village as a housekeeper and urged her to study and grow into a nursing assistant. Solecito was raped and pregnant by her stepfather at age 15 and after having an abortion she was repudiated by her mother and siblings. She left her house and has moved ahead on her own. María Clara is her confidant and the person who accompanies her in the process of reinventing herself as a woman. Sol pays María Clara for all this with a bulletproof loyalty.
Manuel is the director of the Hospital. Clever and arrogant, he is corruption made human. Although technically he is a good doctor, what really interests him is money, even if the life of a patient is at risk. He is immersed in murky businesses that María Clara suspects and decides to investigate until the last consequences. A commitment in which her closest friends help her. However, skilled as a good criminal, Manuel manages to make it difficult for them to prove his misdeeds. One of the weapons he has in his favor are the secrets he knows about the intimate life of some of María Clara's friends and that he will use against them to defend himself.
